Take on Weekly Group Challenges in Pokémon GO!

Starting January 19, 2026, a significant update has been integrated into the Weekly Challenges feature of Pokémon GO. Now, Trainers can participate in matches with other players they don't know yet. This option is user-initiated, allowing them to discover new friends to play with remotely.

By completing these challenges, participants will have the chance to encounter Tandemaus, the Team Pokémon!

Global Availability of Challenges

Since December 2, 2025, the Weekly Challenges feature is accessible to all players worldwide. Every Monday at 4:00 PM PST, a new challenge will be offered, concluding the following Monday at the same time.

How to Participate in Challenges

• Form a group of up to 4 Trainers, including yourself.
• Each group can consist of Trainers from anywhere in the world.
• Only one weekly challenge can be undertaken by a group at a time.

Trainers can invite up to three friends to join their group. Once in a group, they can track daily and overall progress of the challenge, as well as the remaining time to complete it.

Joining a Friend's Group

Trainers will receive a notification if they are invited to a challenge group. They will have 24 hours to accept the invitation before it expires.

Tracking Challenge Progress

In the Social tab of their profile, Trainers can view their group's progress. When the weekly challenge is completed within the allotted time, Trainers can expect to receive:

• A friendship progression bonus.
• 20,000 XP.
• 6,000 Stardust.

Even if the group does not complete the challenge, a reward in Stardust will be granted for the efforts made.

Trainers will also have the opportunity to become friends with group members, allowing them to gain additional friendship progression if the challenge is successful.

At the end of the year, a matchmaking feature will be implemented to help Trainers form groups with other community members they do not yet know.
